Legal excellence. Innovative thinking.

SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz is advancing the practice of legal advice, combining the highest standards of professional expertise with technological innovation.

SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz combines legal excellence with technological expertise. The targeted use of artificial intelligence supports our lawyers in handling complex cases efficiently and creates measurable value for our clients. This frees us up to focus on what matters most: sound legal analysis, strategic advice, and the development of tailored solutions.

AI in Our Legal Practice

We use artificial intelligence in our legal practice where it adds value in handling complex matters. It can make information more readily accessible, streamline workflows and help manage complex matters efficiently. In doing so, we combine technological capabilities with legal experience, careful legal analysis and our commitment to well-founded, practical solutions for our clients.

SZA AI Lab

With the SZA AI Lab, we develop AI solutions tailored to our clients’ specific needs and support companies in leveraging new technologies. A multidisciplinary team led by partners Dr. Jonas Fischbach and Dr. Simon Apel brings together legal and technical expertise. This results in customized applications that effectively complement our legal advice and streamline processes.

Examples of AI Applications

SZA AI Lab

The range of possible applications extends from the automated review of contracts for specific content and risk indicators to the analysis of extensive email and document repositories. Information can be identified in a targeted manner, captured in a structured form, and made available for further evaluation. In addition, these applications enable the detection of duplicates, the creation of standardized documents, and the preparation and conversion of documents for further digital processing. This allows even large volumes of information to be systematically organized and made usable.

Responsible Use of AI

1

Protection of Confidential Information.

Confidentiality and attorney-client privilege are our firm’s top priorities when using AI. That is why we exclusively use AI tools that treat client data confidentially and do not use it for training purposes. Our clients have the right to object to the use of AI at any time.

2

Human in the Loop.

Every use of AI at SZA takes place under human supervision. All work results produced with AI are carefully reviewed by our lawyers, who take responsibility for the work product.

3

Efficiency and Added Value for Our Clients.

We regard the use of AI as a tool to deliver our services more quickly, in a more targeted manner, and even more cost-efficiently. Our clients benefit from shorter turnaround times and optimized resource allocation—while maintaining the same high standards of quality and diligence.

4

Continuous Improvement.

We continuously review whether the efficiency of our workflows can be enhanced using AI and which tools are relevant now and in the future for this purpose. We achieve efficiency gains both by supporting legal work (for example, through AI-assisted research or contract analysis) and by fully automating repetitive tasks (such as drafting standard documents, classifying documents, or extracting data from large datasets).

AI Tools in Use

We use various AI applications to support legal work. These include, in particular, Harvey for analyzing large data and document sets; Google Gemini Enterprise for research, document analysis, and the creation of AI-powered solutions; Beck-Noxtua for researching case law and legal literature; DeepL Pro for the efficient translation of multilingual documents; and Jigsaw for visualizing complex matters in the form of structure charts and diagrams. The systems in use are continuously evaluated and supplemented with additional applications.

Our lawyers provide companies with comprehensive advice on the legal framework for the use of artificial intelligence.
