SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz advises Mutares on acquisition of German forging businesses from CIE Automotive

A team led by SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz partner Dr. Martin Kolbinger has advised Mutares on the acquisition of three forging businesses in Germany from CIE Forgings Germany, ultimately owned by CIE Automotive S.A.

The transaction is an add-on acquisition for Mutares’ FerrAl United Group. The three businesses together employ approximately 600 people. The businesses are specialized in forging and machining with a focus on customers in the truck market. The closing of the transaction is expected in the third quarter of 2023.

Mutares invests in medium-sized companies and carve-outs in turnaround situations. The shares of Mutares SE & Co. KGaA are traded on the Frankfurt Stock Market.

The FerrAl United Group is a multinational supplier for multi-material machined solutions and systems, combining the Mutares portfolio companies PrimoTECS Group, Cimos, and MMT-B (Manufacturing Mobility of Tomorrow – Bordeaux) as well as the Selzer Group just acquired.

The team of SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz led by Dr. Martin Kolbinger regularly advises Mutares on both the buy-side and the sell-side as most recently on the acquisition of the Selzer Group from INDUS and before as well on the acquisition of MMT-B's plant in Bordeaux from MAGNA.
