Marc-Philippe Hornung, partner of SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz, appointed as preliminary administrator in self-administration proceedings of Braun Maschinenbau GmbH
Braun Maschinenbau GmbH, a German agricultural machinery manufacturer, has applied for restructuring proceedings under self-administration. On 28 July 2025, the local court in Landau approved the self-administration and appointed Marc-Philippe Hornung of SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz as preliminary administrator. In this role, Mr. Hornung will monitor the proceedings, provide constructive support and protect the interests of creditors.
Founded in 1958, Braun Maschinenbau GmbH develops and manufactures highly specialised mechanical weed control machines for winegrowers and fruit growers. The economic difficulties faced by Braun Maschinenbau GmbH are the result of a number of external factors. Demand for wine has declined significantly in several important export markets. Additional burdens, such as import duties in the US and the loss of the Russian market due to sanctions, are exacerbating the situation.
Under the approved self-administration arrangement, the family-owned company will continue to operate its business without restrictions. The wages and salaries of the nearly 50 employees are secured through insolvency payments until September 2025. By applying for self-administered restructuring proceedings, Braun Maschinenbau GmbH has taken an important step towards sustainable restructuring. The aim is to secure the company's long-term future while preserving as many jobs as possible.
SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz's insolvency and restructuring team has many years of experience in the insolvency administration of large and medium-sized companies, particularly in continuing companies during insolvency and restructuring through transfer or an insolvency plan.
