Hüffenhardt Care Center: SZA insolvency administrator implements going-concern solution

The investor process in the insolvency proceedings concerning the assets of Domus Cura Pflegezentrum Hüffenhardt GmbH has been successfully concluded: Marc-Philippe Hornung, a partner at SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz, acting as insolvency administrator, has sold the care center to GERAS Seniorenpflege GmbH by way of an asset deal. The purchaser will continue operations; all jobs and care beds will be retained.

Marc-Philippe Hornung and his team stabilized business operations following the opening of insolvency proceedings while simultaneously conducting a structured investor process. The objective was to achieve a sustainable going-concern solution outside the insolvency proceedings, which has now been accomplished through the sale to GERAS. The purchase price was not disclosed.

“The solution now implemented has created a viable future for the facility. I am pleased that operations will continue and that care for the residents can be permanently ensured,” says Marc-Philippe Hornung.

Insolvency proceedings over the assets of the operating company were opened by order of the Local Court of Mosbach (Amtsgericht Mosbach) on 1 April 2026, appointing Marc-Philippe Hornung as insolvency administrator, after he had previously acted as preliminary insolvency administrator.

The acquirer, GERAS Seniorenpflege GmbH, operates several inpatient care facilities in southern Germany and will continue the site under the name “GERAS Pflege Hüffenhardt GmbH.” The facility has 131 care places and employs around 110 staff members.

The Restructuring and Insolvency team at SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz has many years of experience in the insolvency administration of large and medium-sized companies, particularly in the continuation of business operations as well as in restructurings through transfer solutions or insolvency plans.
