SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz partner Marc-Philippe Hornung appointed preliminary insolvency administrator for Wehrle-Werk AG

Wehrle-Werk AG, based in Emmendingen, filed for insolvency at the Freiburg District Court on 25 August 2025. By order dated 26 August 2025, attorney Marc-Philippe Hornung was appointed as preliminary insolvency administrator. In this role, he will examine the company's financial situation, monitor its business operations, and initiate measures to secure its assets in the interest of its creditors.

Wehrle-Werk AG's business operations are to be continued within the framework of the preliminary insolvency proceedings. The approximately 250 employees were informed promptly; their wages and salaries are secured for the coming months by the insolvency money. The aim is to stabilize business operations, develop restructuring options for the long-established company, and promptly transition it to a stable situation outside of insolvency proceedings. The subsidiaries of Wehrle-Werk AG are not currently affected by the insolvency filing.

Wehrle-Werk AG looks back on over 160 years of company history and is one of the long-established suppliers in plant and environmental engineering. The company's current crisis is primarily due to the weak economic situation, delays in the execution of projects, and strongly fluctuating order intake. In addition, business operations were significantly impacted by a serious hacker attack in May 2024.

The insolvency and restructuring team at SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz has many years of experience in insolvency administration for large and medium-sized companies, particularly in the continuation of companies during insolvency and in restructuring through transfer or an insolvency plan.
