Thomas Oberle, partner of SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz, appointed as preliminary administrator of Privatbrauerei Eichbaum GmbH & Co. KG

On 29 October 2025, the Mannheim Local Court appointed attorney Thomas Oberle as provisional administrator in the self-administration proceedings of Privatbrauerei Eichbaum GmbH & Co. KG. In this role, Thomas Oberle will review the company's financial situation, supervise its management, and support measures to stabilize and continue the operations of the long-established Mannheim brewery. The aim of the proceedings is to secure business operations, strengthen Eichbaum's competitiveness, and position the company for a sustainable future.

Founded in 1679, Privatbrauerei Eichbaum is Mannheim's oldest industrial company and employs around 300 people. The restructuring concept includes a strategic realignment of the company and the expansion of sales activities. The aim is to develop from a pure beer brewer to a beverage manufacturer. “The company's plans for restructuring under its own management are plausible and comprehensible,” explained Thomas Oberle after initial discussions with the new management. “The provisional proceedings have started very well. Eichbaum has been able to continue its business operations to their full extent.”

SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz's insolvency and restructuring team has extensive experience in supporting self-administered restructuring proceedings, particularly in the continuation of business operations and the development of viable restructuring concepts.
