Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Theodor Baums
Theodor, emeritus professor for civil law, commercial and business law and founding and board member of the Institute for Law and Finance (ILF) of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, works as Of Counsel at the Frankfurt office.
Theodor has many years of comprehensive experience as a consultant and arbitrator.
As former Chairman of the Government Commission on Corporate Governance, Theodor is one of the founding fathers of modern corporate governance development in Germany.
Theodor has advised national public institutions and bodies (Federal Government, Bundestag) as well as international organizations (World Bank, OECD, EU Commission) on legal policy on a large scale. Among other things, he was chairman of the government commission “Corporate Governance" and expert for the commercial law department of the 63rd Deutscher Juristentag (German Jurists' Day), member of the advisory board of BaFin and of the advisory board of the EU Commission for Corporate Law and Corporate Governance. He is a member of the Government Commission on the German Corporate Governance Code and the German representative in the European Model Company Act Group (EMCA), which has developed a European model law for corporations.
