Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz extends its restructuring practice with a top-class team led by the well-known expert for restructuring and insolvency Thomas Oberle. With the entrance of Oberle the partnership expands its consultation spectrum and now offers services in the fields of insolvency administration, insolvency monitoring (Sachwalterschaft) and the debtor-in-possession management (Eigenverwaltung) as well as insolvency consultation. He will work in the Mannheim office as of January 1, 2015.
Thomas Oberle (58) has been with the legal practice Wellensiek in the fields of insolvency administration, restructuring and insolvency consultation since 1982. Among others, he managed large proceedings such as “Bremer Vulkan” and “Maxhuette” together with Dr. Jobst Wellensiek. Other well-known insolvency proceedings, in which he was appointed as administrator, concerned the EMTEX group and the BBS group. Besides the activities as a corporate insolvency administrator, another focus of Thomas Oberle and his team is on the assumption of operational responsibility in debtor-in-possession management proceedings pursuant to ESUG (SIAG Nordseewerke GmbH, M&V GmbH „Siegmar“, Flabeg GmbH, RENA GmbH). Together with Thomas Oberle, attorney Marc-Philippe Hornung (38) joins SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz, whose main focus is on insolvency administration and consultation in the fields of M&A in insolvency situations.
Thomas Oberle expressed his delight about the new challenge: “The complexity of insolvency proceedings increases and the development towards more debtor-in-possession management proceedings pursuant to ESUG demands to broaden the range of advice in the area of commercial law. The need for high-level advice on company law and insolvency matters from a single source will continue to increase in the years to come. The possibilities of SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz with its first-class commercial law expertise are promising. I and my team are looking forward to working with outstanding legal experts.”
“The entrance of Thomas Oberle and his team proves that we will continue our past year’s efforts to grow beyond the traditional core business of the partnership”, the Senior Partners Prof. Dr. Jochem Reichert and Dr. Georg Jaeger emphasized. “We are exceptionally pleased to welcome such a top-class insolvency expert in our partnership. This step will give our restructuring practice a significant boost.”, Reichert stated. “Especially at the point of intersection to M&A transactions and other legal fields of the partnership such as corporate and commercial law as well as labour law, we see a substantial potential in the entrance of Thomas Oberle to complete our portfolio and generate further growth.”, Georg Jaeger added.
