Founded in 1970, BBS is a supplier of high-quality aluminum wheels for renowned German car manufacturers and is also well known as a manufacturer of light alloy wheels for motor sports. 525 people are employed at BBS's plants in Schiltach and Herbolzheim.
The financial difficulties hit the company in the middle of its 50-year-anniversary year. Amongst other things, they are due to the currently difficult market environment in the automotive sector. The situation grew worse because of the corona-related lockdown that also led to a temporary reduction in production at both sites.
With Thomas Oberle and Marc-Philippe Hornung (also partner at SZA), two insolvency and restructuring experts who are also experienced in the automotive supply industry are now entrusted with BBS's insolvency.
SZA's insolvency and restructuring team has broad experience in the automotive sector. In 2011, Thomas Oberle has already acted as insolvency administrator of the predecessor company BBS International GmbH. With Marc-Philippe Hornung acting as insolvency administrator of Giesserei Albbruck GmbH and as administrator (Sachwalter) of Galvanoform GmbH in Lahr, Germany, he is active in two other supplier insolvencies.
