Marc-Philippe Hornung Preliminary Trustee for the Restructuring of THIELMANN UCON GmbH

Press Release Restructuring Insolvency Law -

THIELMANN UCON GmbH has filed for insolvency in self-administration at the competent local court Offenburg. Marc-Philippe Hornung, partner at Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz and expert for insolvencies and restructurings, has been appointed preliminary trustee.

THIELMANN UCON GmbH is one of the world's leading manufacturers of stainless steel containers and specialised in container solutions. The aim of the insolvency proceedings is a strategic realignment of the company's production site in Hausach (Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany). Not only increased productivity and more flexible production processes, but also a higher degree of automation and the adaption of narrowed market requirements are intended outcomes. The company's declared goal is to safeguard the jobs of the site's permanent workforce.

After the company generated a considerable loss in 2020 due to a decline in demand caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and since the financial burden became unsustainable in the long-term, the initiation of the restructuring process was necessary.

"In the present circumstances and due to good preparations, I see good conditions for a successful restructuring process," says Marc-Philippe Hornung. Hornung is regularly appointed as insolvency administrator and trustee by various insolvency courts. He recently acted as trustee in the insolvency proceedings concerning the assets of Galvanoform (Lahr, Germany). Furthermore, he is founding member of Forum270, an association of leading restructuring and insolvency advisors.
