SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz advises investor group on majority acquisition of "Hockenheimring"

An SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz team led by partner Dr. Florian Schumacher advises the Emodrom Group on the majority acquisition of the "Hockenheimring" racing circuit from the City of Hockenheim.

The Emodrom Group will acquire around 75 percent of the share capital of Hockenheim-Ring GmbH, while the city of Hockenheim and Badischer Motorsport Club will retain ownership of the remaining shares. The investors behind the Emodrom Group include five medium-sized family businesses from Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse: Assenheimer Group, Timbra Group, Unternehmensgruppe Dünkel GmbH & Co. KG, Paravan GmbH and the Wirth Group. Over the next five to ten years, up to EUR 250 million are to be invested in the traditional racing and event venue.

The municipal council of the city of Hockenheim unanimously approved the transaction on 24 April 2024.

The Emodrom Group has already been a partner of the city of Hockenheim for several years. For example, with the Porsche Experience Center at the Hockenheimring, which opened in 2019, it created an automotive experience center in the middle of the racetrack.
